At a senior IC rate ($75 to $200 per hour depending on the specialty), this produces $75,000 to $250,000 of pre-tax income — meaningful, often exceeding what a full-time office role would net after childcare costs, and entirely workable around the unpredictability of toddler life.
One last thing: do not, under any circumstances, accept a role that is structured assuming you will simultaneously be doing childcare and working.
